Easter writing- Hole in the Hedge
Hi my name is Peter and I have been living in this hedge for like 2 miserable days. I am hungry and scared. The reason i haven’t gone out of the hedge is because Mrs Claws cat is outside waiting for me to come out. If i go out i am toast! Probably my mother is worried to the point she might die! Luckily I packed a few berries but i won’t eat them yet, i will make a plan that the cat won’t see coming. I don’t really enjoy staying in the hedge because i can smell the smell of freshly cut grass. It doesn’t help because it makes me even more hungry. Suddenly i have a plan, i will throw a few berries outside the hedge! I can’t believe it, the cat has chased the berries and when the cat is far enough away, i make a dash out of my hiding spot. As i hop away, i hear heavy footsteps behind me. I sprint and jump into my rabbit hole. The cat doesn’t see where i go. When I see my mother i hug her and cry joyfully.

Daily 5 checklist each day
In Room 3 we are learning to Self Manage our learning. Part of this is completing our Daily 5 for Literacy.
Make sure you fill in your checklist each day and get a buddy to check you off. Remember to have a person check you off you need to have worked with them or shared your work with them and you need to check of with a different buddy for each task.
Reading to Self
This could be Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.)-a chance to read your favourite book, Read Theory, Epic Books, or Kiwi Kids News. You could read the newspaper or a book from the library corner. Sometimes Mrs Gill will set you a text to read before coming to work with her and this will be part of Reading to Self.
Reading to a partner
Buddy up with someone you know you can work positively with.
Share a page or two of the book that you are reading (this could be your own library book, a book from the class library or a book from somewhere else). Be ready for your partner to ask you questions about the characters, the setting, the events of the story or what you think may happen next.
Listening to Reading
Head to Storyline Online, EPIC books, listen to a School Journal or Junior Journal story or article, listen to a Ready to Read story or log in to Sunshine Online. Find a quiet space and listen to a buddy read a book to you!
